Course Requirements

Overview of Basic Rules
1. Game Structure:
   ► Played between two teams, typically of five players each.
   ► Games consist of four quarters, usually lasting 12 minutes each (NBA) or 10 minutes (FIBA).
   ► The objective is to score more points than the opposing team by shooting the ball through their hoop.

2. Scoring:
   ► Field Goal: 2 points (inside the three-point line) or 3 points (beyond the three-point line).
   ► Free Throw: 1 point, awarded after certain fouls.

3. Violations:
   ► Traveling: Moving without dribbling the ball.
   ► Double Dribble: Dribbling, stopping, and then dribbling again.
   ► Shot Clock: Teams have 24 seconds (NBA) or 14 seconds (after an offensive rebound) to attempt a shot.
   ► Fouls: Personal fouls occur when players make illegal physical contact. After a certain number of team fouls, free throws are awarded to the opposing team.


4. Positions:
   ► Point Guard (PG): Often the team leader; responsible for setting up plays and distributing the ball.
   ► Shooting Guard (SG): Primarily a scorer, often a strong shooter.
   ► Small Forward (SF): Versatile player who can score, rebound, and defend.
   ► Power Forward (PF): Plays close to the basket, effective at scoring and rebounding.
   ► Center (C): Usually the tallest player, focuses on rebounding and scoring near the basket.
